Paper templates & question types

A template defines a paper's skeleton: ordered sections, each with one question type, a question count and marks per question. Section total = count × marks; paper total = Σ sections.

  • Auto-marked types: multiple choice (single & multi), true/false, fill-blank, matching, ordering, numerical.
  • Teacher-marked: short answer, long answer, diagram labeling.
  • required_count — "answer X of Y" sections; also drives the anti-cheat question pools.
  • answer_mode — for teacher-marked sections: typed, photo-only, or let the student choose. Photo answers upload from the camera or gallery.
  • Subject-qualified templates — a template linked to subjects is only offered for those subjects; unlinked = generic.

Templates are snapshotted into each paper at assign time — later template edits don't change papers already assigned.
